Kenton-on-Sea

Kenton-on-Sea is a small coastal town on the Sunshine Coast in the Eastern Cape. It is beautifully situated between the Bushman’s River and the Kariega River. An environment where numerous malaria-free private game reserves can also be found, for example; the Kariega Game Reserve, Sibuya, Shamwari and Lalibela Game Reserve.

With the coast and the hinterland this is the place for spotting the Big 7; all within 1 to 1.5 hours drive from Kenton-on-Sea. Algoa Bay (towards Port Elizabeth) is the place where the Great White Shark breeds.

Kenton-on-Sea is a very popular holiday resort and the number of inhabitants doubles during the summer. The wonderful climate, the beautiful vast beaches and green hills attract visitors to South Africa and far beyond. Here nature is protected and can take its course, so that the coast will always stay here as it should have been intended. It is ideal for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding.

Kenton-on-Sea is enclosed between rivers and the Indian Ocean and is a wonderful place for water sports and relaxation. Where there is water, there is life and you will find an abundance of birds and fish, and from April to December the whales come for their annual visit! Swimming with the dolphins is possible all year round …

Beautiful rocky beaches, sand dunes and mountain lakes and many activities also make Kenton a wonderful place for children. Kariega Beach is a beach of unparalleled beauty and has received a prize as “the most beautiful beach in Zui Africa”. It is here where the sun spends its winter months, at least if you can believe the Eastern Capers.
In addition to the famous Game Reserves in this area, you can also visit Grahamstown, Bathurst and Alexandria. All located in an area that is also known as Frontier Country. Many wars were fought between the Xhosa and British soldiers and so historically it became an important part of South Africa. The villages and towns around Kenton-on-Sea are especially popular with artists and you will find many studios and galleries. Nice to look for original souvenirs. The rich Xhosa culture can still be found here.

Adventurous leisure activities here include driving 4×4 tracks, sand boarding on the high sand dunes, kite surfing, snorkeling along the spectacular reefs and water skiing. Or rent a boat or canoe in the small harbor.

As you can see, Kenton-on-Sea is the holiday destination par excellence and especially for all ages. A Beach and Bush Holiday in One!
