Kleinbaai

Kleinbaai is located on the so-called Danger Point Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean, 3 kilometers away from Gansbaai. Both places are known for diving to sharks as the great white sharks are found here in large numbers. From the natural harbor of Kleinbaai, the boats are launched into the water and then dared to fall into a cage in the ocean to view the sharks of terrifying close-by. The main reason for the presence of the many sharks here is the large amount of sea lobes at Dyer Island (around 50,000).

Kleinbaai is seen as the ‘little sister’ of Gansbaai and is beautifully situated between the Milkwood trees. Families often prefer the quieter Kleinbaai as there are ‘rock pools’ where it is safer for small children to play in the water.

A path runs from Kleinbaai to Danger Point where the lighthouse is situated. You will see that this part of the mainland protrudes from the rest of the coastline, this can be quite treacherous for ships in the dark or in bad weather. The gravel path is difficult to access even for 4×4 vehicles, but is ideal for a nice hike / walk.

Boat trips are also offered from Kleinbaai for whale watching. Between June and December these impressive large animals can be found in the waters of Kleinbaai and the surrounding area.

Kleinbaai has a 9-hole golf course with a beautiful view of the ocean. In the town itself are plenty of dining options and accommodations.
