Bela-Bela

Bela-Bela is a place in the province of Limpopo and lies between Pretoria and Polokwane, it falls under the Waterberg District. Bela-Bela means freely translated ‘boiling boiling’ and refers to the geo-thermal hot springs. Many people still speak of ‘Warmbad’, but officially the new name Bela-Bela has been in use since 2002.

The hot springs were discovered around 1800 by a Tswane tribe that settled in this area, today they are the best known attraction of Bela-Bela. The sources produce no less than 22,000 liters of water with a temperature of 52 degrees Celsius per hour. Enjoy the thermal baths and jacuzzis with the wonderfully warm, mineral and salt-rich water. Children will have a great time with the many activities: water slides, wave pool, water skiing, pedalos, mini-golf, mini-karting, etc. Please note that it can be busy on weekends and during school holidays. Day visitors are welcome between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, you can also spend the night at the Forever Resorts Warmbaths.

Then visit the Waterberg Zipline Adventures for a few hours of swinging in the beautiful nature of the Waterberg area with expert guidance. Waterberg Zipline Adventures can be found between Bela-Bela and Modimolle, book in advance to avoid disappointment. Would you rather have both feet on the ground? There are many hiking trails around Bela-Bela ranging from a few hours to a few days. For example, take a look at the ‘Wag’ n beetjie ‘hiking trail. There are wooden hikers’ cabins where you can spend the night.

Golf enthusiasts can head to Zebula Country Club where a course designed by Peter Matkovich awaits you. A special course where you can see giraffes, zebras, moose, kudu, gemsbok, nyalas, blue wildebeest and other game while playing golf because the course is surrounded by forest.

There are plenty of places to eat in Bela-Bela and also a small beer brewery where lovers can take a look (L’abri Fountain Brewery).
