Gordon’s Bay
Gordon’s Bay is a harbor town with a beautiful beach on False Bay, adjacent to the wine countries and a 45 minute drive from Cape Town. A great place to go to see the beach, ocean, wine countries and the “Mothercity”. Or you can drive along the coast road to the beautiful Kogelberg nature reserve and then arrive at Walkers Bay where Hermanus is located. If you are here in the South African spring then this route will probably be a day trip on your program, because there is a good chance that you can spot whales here! But also from the whale spot at Suikerbossie it is possible to see these giants jump up.
The Helderberg wine route makes it difficult to stay in one place, because it leads you to around 25 different winemakers and cellars where delicious wines, conviviality, nice and special restaurants make this tour a fun day trip.
Energetic people put on hiking boots the next day and venture into the nature reserve of Steenbrasdam to walk the Steenbras River Gorge Hiking trail, enjoying the active life, the beautiful flora and fauna and of course the overwhelming view of False Bay. You also have a particularly beautiful view from the viewpoint at the Sir Lowry’s Pass.
