Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth is ideally located on the Algoa Bay and is a good place for a long beach walk or water sport activities. At the larger beaches such as King’s Beach there are life guards in the summer months, but the smaller, more remote beaches have more charm. Shops, a casino, theater, cinema and many restaurants can be found at the entertainment complex The Boardwalk on the coast. But you will also find cozy restaurants and accommodation in the center and at other places along the beaches.
The center has a number of beautiful old Victorian-style buildings such as Fort Frederick and the City Hall, both built by settlers who settled here in 1820. Those who want to know more about the history of Port Elizabeth can follow the Donkin Heritage Trail. You can also visit the Nelson Mandela Stadium that was built for the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
Port Elizabeth is seen as the end point of the Garden Route and you will find the famous Addo Elephant National Park about an hour’s drive from the city. Domestic flights depart daily from P.E airport.
