Western and Eastern Cape golf trip, including safari

In the coming days you can choose to drive to the Clovella Country Club in Fish Hoek (about 33 km from Cape Town). After golf you can go to the beach just steps from the golf course or to the penguin colony in Simon’s Town. The good, beautiful but often undervalued King David Mowbray Golf Course is also worth a visit. And perhaps you also have time to visit Table Mountain or the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. You can also drive up Signal Hill and enjoy the beautiful view of the city with a picnic basket and / or a bottle of wine.

You leave the ‘Mothercity’ behind and leave for the wine region. Stellenbosch is also known as the ‘wine capital’ and is the second oldest city in South Africa. Stellenbosch has a lot to offer and you will certainly enjoy yourself here in the coming days. The cozy atmosphere of the center and the tranquility of the beautiful wine countries make a nice change. Here too you can enjoy a game of golf! For example, you can play golf at ‘De Zalze Golf Club’. This golf course is located in the Blauwklippen River Valley. The beautiful setting was designed by Peter Matkovich, between the mountains and wine farms where the river is a recurring hurdle. The ‘Stellenbosch Golf Course’ in beautiful condition is a championship course surrounded by mountains and vineyards. This course was also designed by Peter Matkovich.

The next two nights you will stay in Wedgeview Country House & Spa on a bed and breakfast basis.

The Heaven and Earth Valley is a wonderful place for lunch and wine tasting, there are a number of award winning wine estates in this valley. The Rotary Drive, which lies against the mountains behind Hermanus, offers spectacular views of the town and Walker Bay. Or visit the penguin colony and / or the Harold Porter botanical gardens at Bettie’s Bay.

You stay two nights in the One Marine Drive, based on bed and breakfast.

There is a short trip on the program today. You stay two nights in the Blackwaters River Lodge based on bed and breakfast. The lodge is about a 10-minute drive from the center of Knysna and has its own challenging 9-hole golf course. In addition to golf, you can also rent a canoe here or try to brave the river on a Stand-up paddle board. You can also take walks, for example to the beach or through the forest.

Pezula Golf Club can also be found in the vicinity of Knysna. Don’t forget to bring your camera for capturing the beautiful views from this course! Knysna itself is also worth a visit. Visit the cozy waterfront for some shopping or enjoy the view of the lagoon from a terrace.

Today there is a long but beautiful ride on the program. You will drive to the Schotia Private Game Reserve for your 3 day safari adventure in approx. 4 hours (excluding intermediate stops)! You stay two nights in the Schotia Game Reserve, where you will experience the true Africa feeling in the middle of the bush. Romantic fires, a beautiful starry sky, the sounds of the wild animals around you and delicious dishes from the African cuisine. In addition to game drives in Schotia National Park, you will also look for the elephants in Addo Elephant National Park.

Addo is a good place to approach the largest mammal on land, the elephant. The park offers a large population of elephants at home, but also lions, hyenas, buffalo, black rhinos, zebras and various types of antelopes can be spotted during game drives. There are also around 150 bird species, 600 different species of plants and the endangered dung beetle in the park. Addo Elephant National Park started in 1931 with only 11 elephants, now the population has grown to a whopping 550. As it can get very hot in the park, you will be driven around in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus. You only ride on the official trails during this safari, this makes it difficult to see elephants after rainfall as the giants hide in the woods.

On day 14, after your safari, you will drive to Port Elizabeth airport where you return your car and fly back home or continue your journey.
