Selfdrive through the versatile Cape (luxury)

You land at the airport of Cape Town. After arrival you can immediately receive your rental car, category M of Europcar (Ford EcoSport or similar).
If you prefer a transfer after arrival (e.g. if you arrive late with the KLM flight), we can arrange this for you. The rental car will then be delivered to your accommodation the next day. Price on request.

In Cape Town there are endless possibilities for sights and activities. High on the list for many is a visit to Table Mountain and Robben Island. But also think of a walk through the old city center where you will find the Campany Gardens and Castle of Good Hope. Or visit the modern Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with many restaurants and shops. The Cape Peninsula is also worth a visit and a nice day trip. You drive to your overnight address for the next two nights: Queen Victoria Hotel based on bed and breakfast. This accommodation is located on the bustling V&A Waterfront where you can find many restaurants and terraces on the water.

You can drive to your next destination in approximately 40 minutes: Stellenbosch. This is one of the oldest cities in South Africa. The city was founded in 1685 by governor Simon van der Stel. You will find many atmospheric streets and buildings in Cape Dutch style. The nickname of Stellenbosch is Oak City and as you walk around you will discover why. The oaks were used to make wine barrels. Around the village there are many excellent wine farms, nice to visit and to do a wine tasting. Nowadays Stellenbosch is mainly known as a student city, from all over Africa and from other parts of the world, young people come to study here.

You will spend the night in Wedgeview Country House & Spa on a bed and breakfast basis. This accommodation is located in the middle of the wine countries, about ten kilometers from the historic center of Stellenbosch where you can find many excellent restaurants.

For today there is a long trip on the program, so don’t leave too late. You cover a distance of almost 400 kilometers through a fantastic beautiful landscape. You end the day in the so-called “ostrichhood city”: Oudtshoorn.

From Stellenbosch you drive to the N1 highway to Worcester, there you continue the route via the R60 and the last part of your journey you drive on the well-known Route 62.

You should not miss the beautiful caves for which Oudtshoorn is known. These Cango Caves are located north of the village and guided tours are given daily. If you want to visit these caves today, leave early in Stellenbosch. Another option is to visit the caves tomorrow morning.

You will spend the night just outside Oudtshoorn in Pictures Guesthouse on the basis of bed and breakfast. The center of Oudtshoorn is a 5-minute drive from this accommodation.

Depending on your wishes and flight time from Port Elizabeth, you can make a game drive this morning in the Addo Elephant National Park (with your own car or with a ranger).

Today you hand in the rental car at Port Elizabeth airport (about an hour’s drive from your accommodation). From there you can start your way back to the Netherlands (via Cape Town International Airport) or you can extend your trip with a visit to the Kruger Park, for example.
