Selfdrive through the versatile Cape (budget)

You land at the airport of Cape Town. After arrival you can immediately receive your rental car, category B, Ford Fiesta or similar.
If you prefer a transfer after arrival (e.g. if you arrive late with the KLM flight), we can arrange this for you. The rental car will then be delivered to your accommodation the next day. Price on request.

In Cape Town there are endless possibilities for sights and activities. High on the list for many is a visit to Table Mountain and Robben Island. But also think of a walk through the old city center where you will find the Company Gardens and Castle of Good Hope. Or visit the modern Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with many restaurants and shops. An easy way to see a lot of the city is by using the Hop on Hop off bus. The Cape Peninsula is also worth a visit and a nice day trip. You see, you are still short of time in this metropolis! Would you prefer to stay an extra night in Cape Town? You drive to your overnight address for the next two nights: Maartens Guesthouse. You will stay at this accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. The guesthouse is located near the promenade of Sea Point where you can stroll along the Atlantic Ocean and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where you will find many restaurants.

You can drive to your next destination in less than an hour: Stellenbosch. This is one of the oldest cities in South Africa. The city was founded in 1685 by governor Simon van der Stel. You will find many atmospheric streets and buildings in Cape Dutch style. The nickname of Stellenbosch is Oak City and as you walk around you will discover why. The oaks were used to make wine barrels. Around the village there are many excellent wine farms, nice to visit and to do a wine tasting. Nowadays Stellenbosch is also known as a student city, young people from all over Africa and other parts of the world come to study here.

From Stellenbosch you drive on the N1 highway to Worcester, continue along the R60 and the last part of your journey on the famous Route 62. Along the way you will pass small villages such as Robertson, Barrydale, Ladismith and Calitzdorp. The landscape consists of fruit plantations, farmland, hills and mountains.

If you wish, you can also visit places of interest in / around Oudtshoorn this morning. From De Akker Guesthouse to your accommodation in Knysna, a drive of 140 kilometers is again through beautiful scenery.

Knysna is located on the famous Garden Route. It is a charming village situated on the Indian Ocean and surrounded by green forests and forests where many elephants used to live. The area around Knysna is ideal for taking walks, both along the coast and through the green forests. From the Waterfront (Knysna Quays) you have a beautiful view of the lagoon and The Heads. Here you will also find terraces and restaurants.

You will spend the night at Abalone Lodge in a cabin based on accommodation. These attractive wooden chalets are equipped with a kitchenette (small kitchen), so don’t forget to do some shopping for breakfast in the morning. It is also possible to have breakfast delivered to your cabin, inquire about this when booking.

The entire Big Five (elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard), but also other game such as hyenas, giraffes, zebras, monkeys and many different antelopes and birds live in this park. As the name of the park suggests, a large population of elephants lives here. When you drive through the park with your own car, you can hardly miss them. With your rental car you can use the asphalted roads in the park or optionally book a game drive with a ranger. When you enter the park, you pay a conservation fee. Keep in mind the maximum speed and closing time of the fences in the park, always keep a safe distance from the wild animals and leave your car only in the camps or at the indicated picnic areas.

You spend the night at the Addo Rest Camp in a chalet based on accommodation. There is a shop, restaurant and swimming pool in the camp. There is also a water place that is illuminated at night and where you can hopefully see wild animals drinking tonight. You can also spot wild animals and birds from the underground observation hut.
