Safari through the north of South Africa (budget)

This morning you may not feel the real ‘Africa feeling’, but you are still in the business center of South Africa. This will soon change. After breakfast you will be taken to the rental car depot at the airport and you can receive your Europcar rental car (category B of Ford Fiesta or similar). Then you head north-west towards the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Total distance for today is around 200 km.

You can check in at Shindzela Tented Safari Camp between 13:00 and 14:00. In the afternoon the first game drive per open 4×4 safari vehicle is on the program. The guide will do his utmost to show you the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard). However, you can also enjoy the beautiful zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, antelopes, goats and many birds.

After the afternoon game drive there is time to freshen up before you can enjoy dinner. Where do you feel more connected to Africa than on an evening like this, under the stars with the sound of the wild animals around you!

Your journey through the beautiful north of South Africa is almost over. Don’t worry, whoever catches the South Africa virus will definitely be back! You leave for Johannesburg, where you return your rental car or you extend your journey with one of our other travel options through, for example, the province of Kwazulu Natal or the Western Cape.

For today, we recommend that after the game drive and breakfast, you visit the Panorama Route (in clear weather) while you drive back to Johannesburg. This route naturally takes more time and is only possible if you do not leave too late from Timbavati and your flight leaves late in the evening.If you don’t have much time, you can choose to only visit the northern tip of the Panorama Route: Three Rondavels (after which you can return to the R36).

Via small cozy villages such as Lydenburg and Dullstroom you drive back to the N4 highway and the OR Tambo airport.
