Kruger & the winelands including luxury Rovos Rail train trip

At Johannesburg airport you will be met by a driver and taken to your accommodation for the night.

You stay one night in African Rock Hotel based on bed and breakfast. This exclusive boutique hotel is located in a quiet suburb of Johannesburg; Kempton Park. Relax in the lush tropical garden or by the pool. The interior is a wonderful combination of African, Western and Eastern design trends and offers a warm, cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

You take the transfer back to Johannesburg airport and pick up your rental car here (Category M, or similar) for the coming days. Would you rather have the car delivered to your accommodation? That is also possible at an additional cost. Ask us about the possibilities.

After you have received the car, you leave the bustle of Johannesburg and drive on the N12 and the N4 to Hazyview. You can also choose to fly from Johannesburg to Nelspruit and collect the car here. Ask us about the possibilities.

You will stay two nights at Summerfields Rose Retreat or similar based on bed and breakfast.

On day three you can explore the spectacular Panorama Route. This route is so called because of the beautiful views. Take all the time for the route so that you won’t miss the breathtaking views along the way. Pinnacle Rock, Jock’s View and God’s Window are some of the high-lying rock points from which you can look out over the vast Lowveld. Further north, the Blyde River has carved through the mountains a beautiful gorge (Blyde River Canyon), with the Three Rondavels and Mariepskop as, literally and figuratively, highlights! Don’t forget to go to Bourke’s Luck Potholes en route. Here you reach viewpoints via paths and bridges with a view of a wonderful rock bed shaped by river erosion where the rivers Blyde and Treur meet.

Today you drive the world famous Kruger National Park where your safaris will start! The park is exceptionally rich in mammals and birds and this, combined with its surface area, makes it one of the best game reserves in the world. The park has an extensive network of roads and camps, but fortunately that does not affect nature. There are strict rules, including the speed limit of 40/50 km per hour.

The Kruger Park consists of almost 2 million hectares of unspoilt wilderness. The park became National Park in 1898 and is now more than 110 years old. A large number of different animals, 147 different mammals, live in the Kruger Park. 114 reptile species, 507 different bird species and 34 amphibian species. You will certainly be amazed! The best times for spotting animals are early in the morning until around 10 a.m. and late afternoon. Most animals live scattered throughout the park, but the amount and regularity of the observations are determined by the terrain and vegetation.

You will spend the next two nights in the Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge, based on full board, selected drinks and including two  game-drives per day.

An early departure today. You drive to Nelspruit Airport, return your car and fly back to Johannesburg. Here you will be met and taken to the Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria. You are expected here at 2 p.m. The 3 day luxury train trip from Pretoria to Cape Town Scheduled.

The next two nights you will stay in a Pullman Suite on the luxury Rovos Rail train (upgrade to a Deluxe Suite or a Royal Suite possible). You travel from Pretoria to Cape Town in three days.

You will arrive at Cape Town station at 6 p.m. You will be picked up from the station and taken to the Queen Victoria Hotel, where you will stay three nights based on bed and breakfast.

On day 9 your rental car (again a category M or similar) will be delivered to your accommodation.

In the coming days you can explore Cape Town on your own. The versatility of the city makes it a perfect destination for everyone! Nature, culture, beach and a vibrant nightlife can be found in Cape Town. You can eat everywhere, enjoy good wines, nice shops and beautiful beaches. Cape Town has something to offer for both young and old!

You should not miss the lively V&A Waterfront. Here are cozy terraces, streets, bars and meeting places for both Cape residents and tourists. You can also make boat trips from here. The boat to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela has been imprisoned for a long time also departs from V&A. If you want to make this excursion we advise you to book it in advance to avoid disappointment on the spot. Also a visit to Table Mountain cannot be missed during your stay in Cape Town.

The wine countries also belong to Cape Town and a visit to Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek should not be missing in this trip. Along the way you can stop at one of the wine farms for a wine tasting and afterwards you may enjoy a delicious lunch at a wine farm.

Stellenbosch is a historic student city and offers everything: nature, culture, shops and many restaurants. In Paarl you can, among other things, visit the Language Monument and in Franschhoek you can perhaps take a ride on the Wine tram. Franschhoek is known as the “Wine and Food Capital of the Cape”. There are various excellent lunch and dinner options. Ask us for advice, we will make your reservations free of charge if passed on in time. This prevents disappointment on the spot.
