Cape Town, Route 62 and the Garden Route on a motorbike

Upon arrival at Cape Town Airport you will be taken to the Chapman’s Peak Hotel, where you will stay two nights based on bed and breakfast. The next morning, your motorcycle will be delivered to your hotel and the adventure can begin.

Chapman’s Peak Hotel is located on the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive! This road is highly recommended for riding your motorcycle. You will certainly enjoy the fantastic views. You can drive all the way to Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point and drive back to Houtbay via the penguins at Boulders Beach.

But you can also drive all the way to Blouberg Strand and take great photos of Table Mountain from here.

We recommend that you first drive to Stellenbosch and look around or visit a winery. In Stellenbosch you will find nice restaurants and the typical white houses in Cape Dutch style. Then continue on Hellshoogte Road to Franschhoek where you will spend the next two nights.

Franschhoek is also located in the wine countries and is known as the ‘Food and Wine Capital of South Africa’. This is the perfect place for some culinary indulgence at a top restaurant such as: Le Quartier Francais, Le Bon Vivant or Grande Provence. Those who want to know more about the history of Franschhoek and Huguenots from France can visit the Huguenot Museum. Don’t be fooled when you see a ‘motor museum’ sign, because here you will find a huge collection of cars and only a few motorbikes (the African word for car is ‘motor’).

If you want to taste all wines without having to worry about having to get back on your motorcycle, we recommend a ride with the unique Wine Tram! With this day ticket you can choose from various routes and organize your day yourself. You decide how much time you want to spend at the various wine farms along the route.

A beautiful ride is planned today! You drive to the coast via the spectacular and winding Franschhoek Pass. Don’t be surprised if you see baboons on the side of the road when you drive over the pass! They walk around freely here. Don’t give them any food and try not to touch them, they are still wild animals . They are certainly fun to watch!

Today two routes you can choose from. The shortest route takes you from Hermanus via Napier and Bredasdorp to Cape Agulhas (127 km). The other route has smaller paths via Gansbaai and Stanford along the Walker Bay Nature Reserve to Cape Agulhas (135 km).

From Cape Algulhas you drive north through Bredasdorp and Stormsvlei to Montagu.

Ladismith is located at the foot of the Klein Swartberg and has a number of beautiful buildings in various architectural styles. When you approach the village you will see the Towerkop, according to legend this mountain top is split by the spell of an evil witch. Your final destination for today is the ostrich capital of the world: Oudtshoorn.

Eating out in Oudtshoorn? Try Kalinka or Jemima’s for ‘Karoo dishes’.

A short drive today. The fastest route is via the N12 and to George and further on the N2. This route is 115 km. An alternative is to drive via the R325 and N2 via Mossel Bay to Knysna. This route is approx. 160 km.

You will spend the next two nights in the beautiful Blackwaters River Lodge, based on bed and breakfast. This lodge is located approximately 10 minutes drive from Knysna. The owners of this lodge are also fanatic motorcyclists and can therefore provide you with various tips!

Within a 10 minute drive you are in the cozy town of Knysna with the cozy Waterfront. Here you can enjoy the view from a terrace or do some shopping. There is also plenty of time to, for example, take a cruise on the lagoon, visit the Featherbed reserve or visit the Knysna Heads.

You end your beautiful motorcycle tour with a safari in the Addo Elephant National Park! The park was founded in 1931, a time when there were only 16 elephants in the area. Today, the area, the elephant section, offers a home to more than 550 elephants, but also lions, buffalo, black rhino, jackal, spotted hyena, leopard, hartebeest, moose, kudu, diver, greybok, Burchell’s zebra, wild boar, the vervet monkey and many smaller animals can be found here. And not to mention the unique Addo flying dung beetle. The park also has around 250 species of birds.

The next two nights you will stay in the Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm, based on bed and breakfast. You can make game drives here in the park.

Today you will drive to Port Elizabeth airport, where your tour ends. After returning your motorcycle, your tour ends.
