Travel schedule -

B= Breakfast, B= Brunch, L= Lunch, D= Dinner

Day 1: Johannesburg – Kalahari/Kang
Your adventurous journey starts this morning at 6.30 am at the Greenfire Lodge in Johannesburg. The journey today goes towards the border from Botswana. After the border formalities you head for the flat Kalahari, where you will visit the endless plains of the desert. In the afternoon you will arrive at the campsite near Kang. Setting up the tents may take some getting used to. After the tents have been set up and you have been able to freshen up, enjoy a well-earned meal. Please note: all meals are for your own account today. During the dinner your guide will tell you more about the program for the coming days.

Accommodation tour: Kalahari Rest
Included activity: Visit to the  Kalahari

Day 2: Kalahari Bushmen (B, L, D)
An early wake up call today but this is certainly not for nothing. You will be able to take beautiful pictures during the spectacular sunrise in the Kalahari desert.

After an extensive breakfast with a well-deserved cup of coffee, you will travel today to the border village of Ghanzi. A special meeting will take place here. Ghanzi offers home to some of the last remaining San (also known as Bushmen) and under the guidance of your guide you will visit these fascinating people. The visit also includes a walk through nature. During this walk you will learn more about how the San survive in the ‘wild’, what is on the menu, which hunting techniques are used and how water is sought and how the water is stored.

Accommodation tour: Dqae Qare San Lodge
Included activity: Visit to the  San inclusive walk

Day 3 – 5: Okavango Delta (3x B, 3x L, 3x D)
The Okavango delta is a complicated network of canals and finds its origin as the Okavango river in Angola. The river ends as a domestic delta and forms a 16,000 km² maze of so-called wetlands. It is a wonderland of meandering waterways, green islands, lush plains, beautiful birds and wildlife.

This ecosystem is filled with a variety of flora and fauna. Seeing a nervous water buck walking across the flooded plain or a Bee Eater attacking an unsuspecting insect and of course the scream of the bald eagle: here you will experience one of nature’s most beautiful masterpieces.

You start your journey through the delta, near the panhandle, by boat. You will spend three nights in this overwhelming wilderness. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the serenity of this beautiful nature on foot or per mokoro. On day 3 and / or 6 you have the option (at an additional cost) to view the beautiful delta from the air. But above all, enjoy the peace and quiet in this area by reading a book or enjoying the nature around you in silence.

Accommodation tour: overnight at a fully serviced camp.
Included activity: Transfer per powerboat, guided bush walk, mokoro excursion and one  sunset cruise
Optional activity: Helicopter flight above the Okavango Delta

Day 6: Maun  (B, L, D)
After an early breakfast, the journey back to civilization begins by (motor) boat. You get back in the adventure truck and after a stop to do some shopping, you drive to the lodge where you will spend the night. This lodge is located on the banks of the Boteti River, close to Maun. There is a swimming pool at the lodge where you can relax and cool off on a warm day. You have the opportunity to participate in an optional flight over the Okavango Delta to get an even better picture of this special area.

Camping and Accommodation Tour: overnight at the lodge in Maun.
Included activity: Transfer per powerboat, Boteti river sunset
Optional activity: Helicopter flight above the Okavango Delta

Day 7 – 10: One Flexible Game Reserve scheme (4x B, 4x L, 4x D)
Back to Maun to replenish supplies for the remainder of the trip. The group will now prepare for game spotting in the national parks. Perched high in the truck you head north into the wilderness, passing a number of small villages along the way. You will stay in nature reserves for the next four days.

You start for example
in Moremi, where you camp the first night next to the world famous Third Bridge. Hopefully you will be able to sleep with the background sounds of a howling hyena, a roaring lion or the growling sound of a submerged hippo.

No guarantee, but it could just be! Further north you go via Xakanaxa to pitch the tents at North Gate. This area is ideal for game viewing and you will also make game drives in this water-rich environment in the afternoon and morning.
You travel further to Savuti Game Reserve, this area invites you to spot more wildlife and is an ‘active’ camping site. Here you must hide the fruit for the elephants and store the meat well for the hungry hyenas.

The vegetation in this area is constantly changing, from open plains, palm trees and swamps, to Mopane forests and Acacia bushes. Full of impressions you will fall asleep in the bush in the evening …. Provided that the sounds of the animals do not keep you awake.

The travel schedule of this part of the trip can deviate from the above schedule, there is a good look at areas where wildlife can be seen and this can vary from season to season. It is even possible that you visit the central Kalahari reserve and / or the Makgadikgadi Pans Reserve during these days.

Accommodation Tour: The support vehicle sets up a fully serviced camp for you
Included activity: game-drives

Day 11: Maun (B, D)
The last morning in the game reserve has arrived. Slowly you will return to the civilized world of Maun where you will have time this afternoon to relax at the lodge before tomorrow the next high point is on the program again.

Camping and Accommodation Tour: overnight at the lodge in Maun.
Included activity game-drive en route to Maun Optional activity: you can now also make a helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta

Day 12: Makgadikgadi Zoutpannen (B, L, D)
This morning you have enough time to relax by the pool. After an early lunch you will continue to the spectacular Makgadikgadi Salt pans for a fantastic view over the vast white plains. Here you will find a diversity of birds and other animals that have adapted to desert life. Search for the springbok, gemsbok and other unique animals. Tonight you will go ‘wild’ camping and enjoy the isolation of civilization. The tents are set up, but your guide will suggest sleeping outside tonight for those who want. Feel the peace and space under the beautiful African starry sky. If the Salt Pans are not accessible for camping, they will move to a campsite in the nearby area.

Camping and  Accommodation tour: Camping under the starry sky of Makgadikgadi Pans or in tents.

Day 13: Chobe – Victoria Falls (B, L, D)
After a night under the stars you will travel on to it today Chobe National Park, known for the huge herds of elephants that gather here around the river. In the afternoon you take a boat trip on the Chobe River where you can hopefully admire elephants and other animals up close. The final destination for today is one of the most adventurous places in Africa, the madman Victoria Waterfalls. You stay two nights in the Greenfire Victoria Falls lodge located within walking distance of the falls and other activities. Enjoy the African atmosphere and the thunderous sound of the remote waterfalls.

Day 14: Victoria Falls (B)
“Mosi o Tunya” (the smoke that thunders) is the name the locals once gave the falls, and is truly a world wonder! In addition to this place, there are also many other activities that you can undertake here: how about rafting, bungee jumping or flying over the falls, all very worthwhile, but for your own account!

Camping and Accommodation tour: two over night stays at Greenfire Lodge in Victoria Falls.
Included activity: Entrance fees Victoria Falls National Park
Optional activity: Helicopter flight  over the waterfalls, bungee jump, rafting, gorge swing etc.

Day 15: Victoria Falls – Francistown (B, L, D)
After breakfast you travel further south to Botswana. Tonight in Francistown set up the camp for the last time and toast your companions once again to the unforgettable journey you have made.

Accommodation Tour: overnight at accommodation in Francistown.

Day 16: Francistown – Johannesburg (B)
Today you are going back to Johannesburg where all goes well, you will arrive early in the evening at the  Greenfire Johannesburg Lodge, the end of your journey. Lunch and dinner are for your own account today. We recommend that you spend the night in Johannesburg tonight and only fly back to the Netherlands the next day or continue your journey, ask us about the possibilities.
