Kayaking with penguins
Boulders Beach is a beautiful and unique place! A large penguin colony lives here! You can view these cute animals (they are approx. 50 cm in size) from a boardwalk ashore, but why not admire the penguins in a more active and unique way? You don’t need a kayak experience!
Paddle with a guide in a very stable two-person kayak to the penguin colony of Boulders Beach.

The kayak adventure starts at 8:30 am (in the South African winter months at 9:00 am) from the jetty in Simon’s Town. You paddle past the port of the navy and see the huge ships up close. Then continue to Boulders Beach. Great chance that you spot sea lions on the way! These playful and curious animals like to come and take a look at the kayaks.
Depending on the tide you stop at the beach to take a refreshing dip in the sea. If the tide is not favorable for a stop on land, you can dive into the water from the kayak and swim to a rock where you can watch the penguins in peace.
If you book this trip in the months of June to November, you also have the opportunity to spot whales!
