Today you will see why South Africa is sometimes called a “rainbow nation.” This interesting day trip will give you more insight into the different cultures and communities in South Africa and also gives you the opportunity to talk to local people and learn about their culture.
The day starts with a visit to District Six. You will see the oldest mosque in South Africa and visit the District Six museum. The museum is closed on Sundays and on this day you will visit a Township church.
After a number of interesting stops at, among others, Bonteheuwel, Nyanga, Gugulethu Seven Memorial and the Amy Biehl Memorial, it’s time for the highlight of the day, namely Robben Island!
You take the ferry to Robben Island. Accompanied by an ex-prisoner you will visit the world-famous prison where Nelson Mandela has been imprisoned for years. A 45-minute bus ride across the island is also on the program.
