Travelstory of Mr. and Mrs. Lichtenberg

Our trip in 2018

In the summer of 2017 we have booked with South Africa Specialist, again our third trip that is largely devised and arranged by them. It’s great that Ester listens carefully to your wishes and compiles the corresponding trip. Because as some experienced South Africa visitors, you no longer have to go all the highlights, but you look for other or special places.

Nthambo Tree camp was our first highlight: in the middle of the wild and a Bush Walk every morning, wow. And if you see 4 leopards in 1 place at the same time and 1 the next day: what a luck.

Then we went to Swaziland, a pleasant surprise we found this mountain kingdom with beautiful landscapes and very friendly people. Enjoyed a lodge in a kind of rainforest with amazing nature around us.

The journey continued to Rhino River Lodge, east of South Africa. Again amidst the wild and we have seen many animals. But also a completely different landscape than Kruger and surroundings. Along with experiences such as eating by the campfire and the incredibly friendly service, it was also completely finished here.
St Lucia was our next stop: a very friendly and laid back village on the Indian Ocean with various game parks nearby. Beautiful modern lodge (Serene estate) from the Dutch, something very different from the African but very worthwhile. Wonderful beaches, forests, marshes, boat trips and in the evening the opportunity to meet a hippo on the street.

Finally, the Drakensberg was fantastic: what a beautiful mountain with all kinds of possibilities to be active. Royal Natal National Park was very beautiful and the trails are fantastic. First in more alternative Antbear Lodge where we made a balloon flight for breakfast (recommended) and then The Cavern: a lodge in the mountains with many extra activities. Here we (it was fall) also enjoyed the atmosphere in the lodge: during the afternoon the fires lit and wonderful reading with a drink. The breakfast on the mountain on our last morning was a nice ending to this vacation.

Unfortunately, it is over but next year we will go again. And of course with South Africa specialist, because then we know that we can have anticipation again with full confidence.
