Small group trip through fascinating Namibia, including safari

Upon arrival at the airport of  Windhoek, You will be met by a driver and taken to your accommodation: Casa Piccolo. You can check in and there is time to freshen up after the flight. Then you meet your guide and take a City Tour through Windhoek. You can see the beautiful old church, Tintenplast (parliament building) and Alte Feste (the old fort). In the evening you can optionally dine at Joe’s Beerhouse, highly recommended for a nice dinner and cozy atmosphere. After dinner you will return to your accommodation.

Breakfast is served at the accommodation, your guide will tell you more about the trip and then the luggage can be loaded. You head south via Rehoboth to today’s final destination: Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch, nestled in the red sand dunes of southern Kalahari. Here you will have time to relax and to absorb the landscape. The following morning we advise you to participate in a “Bush Walk” where you can learn more about the flora and fauna in this area (optional, not included in the price).

You can optionally book a quad bike trip or a tour. In the evening a delicious three-course dinner is served.

Today’s day distance is around 450 kilometers and will take around 5 to 6 hours. Breakfast and dinner included.

This morning you have to get up early, because at sunrise the gates to the Namib Naukluft Park open and you drive to Sossusvlei. Travelers with a good condition can climb one of the dunes for a breathtaking view. With the 4×4 vehicle you drive to Sossusvlei, a clay-like pan in the middle of the dry desert that is occasionally filled with water (depending on the amount of rain). Here are a few (dead, dried out) trees, a photogenic picture! Then you will visit the Sesriem Canyon, a gorge that was formed by the Tsauchab River in an age of millions of years. Tonight you will spend the night at Rostock Ritz, a wonderful lodge where you can relax or use the hiking trails.

Today’s Route takes you to the coastal town Swakopmund. In this village you can clearly see the influence of the German colonial era. Beautiful buildings, bakeries with German delicacies (konditorei) and street names that you might find at our Eastern neighbors. In the evening you can dine at a restaurant of your choice (for your own account). Since you are on the Atlantic, fresh fish is recommended.

This morning you leave the coast and travel inland. Along the way you will visit the 700 million year old Spitzkoppe, an enormous granite rock formation with a height of 1730 meters. Today’s final destination is Onderurquea Guestfarm. The owner is happy to take you on a tour to introduce you to the daily life on this Namibian farm. You will also learn more about the fauna and ecosystem in this area. Dinner is served at the property.

After an early breakfast you leave the lodge and go in search of the rare desert elephants with an expert guide and tracker. These elephants are smaller than the ones found in Etosha National Park, for example, and have adapted to the dry conditions in the desert. During this search on foot you will enjoy the Damaraland landscape and learn more about the people in this area and their living habits. And with a bit of luck you will indeed see a desert elephant or perhaps a black rhino. You will have dinner and overnight again at Grootberg Lodge.

Today’s journey takes you to the most famous game reserve in Namibia: the Etosha National Park, founded in 1907. Once in the park you will spend most of your time along the water holes (water holes) in the hope that elephants, rhinos, giraffes and antelopes will come drink.And with a bit of luck you can also come across lions and / or leopards. To be more likely to spot nocturnal animals, you can book a night drive with a park ranger. But in the evening it is also nice to be at the illuminated waterhole of the camp, where you can wait in excitement for the animals that come to visit the drinking place. You can dine at your own expense in the evening at the restaurant in the Okaukuejo Camp. You spend the night here in a chalet.

Day distance approximately 350 kilometers, 4-5 hours driving (excluding game drive in the park). Breakfast included.

If you get up early, you can take another look around the sunrise at the watering place hoping to see wildlife. After a nutritious breakfast, animals are searched for again. Large amounts of zebras, wildebeests, gemsboks and impalas cross the plains of this park every day. You drive, among other things, along the large salt pan (salt flat), which occupies a large part of the park.

After a quiet breakfast you leave the camp and drive to Otjiwarongo. Along the way you will pass Lake Otjikoto and near Grootfontein you will find the Hoba meteorite, the largest meteorite that is still intact in the world as far as known. In the afternoon you arrive at the Waterberg Wilderness private game reserve where you spend the night at the Waterberg Plateau Lodge. There are a number of well-marked hiking trails around the lodge in the reserve that you can use to explore the area.

Today you cover about 400 kilometers, a journey of 5-6 hours. Breakfast and dinner included.

The last day of this tour takes you back to the starting point: Windhoek. On the way you will stop in Okahandja where you can buy nice (handmade) souvenirs. You will be transferred to the airport or to your accommodation if you stay another night in Windhoek.
