Wine tasting

Delicious wines are produced in South Africa, several of which you will find on the shelves of Dutch and Belgian supermarkets. During your vacation in the Western Cape, a visit to a wine farm should not be missed.

Wine tastings at most wine estates are very low threshold. You do not have to make a reservation and a tasting of 3 to 5 wines costs around R 40 to R 80. With some estates you can also enjoy a lunch or picnic, so reservation is required.

The most famous wine region is around the village of Stellenbosch, but the Western Cape has much more to offer in terms of wine. The wine routes that you can visit during your trip are:

Because the Cape Winelands are so popular for wine tasting, the police regularly conduct alcohol checks. Fines can be high and a prison sentence can even wait if you have drunk too much.
