Toyota Hilux 2.4l TD DC for 4 – 5 people – Category H
The Toyota Hilux double is cab is the perfect and one of the most affordable 4×4 rental cars for a self-drive safari through Southern Africa. The Hilux is the best choice for both two and four people!
The rear seat offers enough space for your luggage and groceries on the move. The locked cargo space is ideal for all included camping gear. Lots of space, comfort and sleeping on the roof in the roof tent but this again highly recommended!
Suitable for 2 to 5 people

A very suitable and well-maintained Toyota Hilux. It had an extended range fuel tank that would have taken us at least 1200 km between refills and two spare tyres – both very useful in Namibia. We were collected at the airport and taken to the car hire depot where the hand over was a relatively lengthy affair, but very necessary considering the nature of the driving, the vehicle and the camping equipment.
On our return to Windhoek the hand-over of the vehicle was very quick and easy. We had two punctures during our three weeks away, which we had repaired locally. With Asco Car Hire only the first puncture is not charged for, so we had to pay nearly £100 for a second replacement tyre. It might be worth considering buying the extended warranty package. At the end of the trip we were taken back to the airport promptly.
