SANParks Shingwedzi Rest Camp

Description of Accommodation :

SAN Parks Camping Shingwedzi Rest Camp – Kruger National Park

The Kruger Park is world famous. With an area of almost 20,000 km2, it is the largest game reserve in South Africa. It is for the most part located in Limpopo, the northernmost region of South Africa. A park where the treasures of South Africa in the form of archaeological finds, Bushmen rock paintings and animals and plants continue to surprise you every day.

This beautiful South African National Park, where you will find 336 different trees, is a home for a large number of animals. You will find 49 fish species, 34 amphibians, 114 species of reptiles, 507 species of birds and 147 different mammals including the world famous Big 5!

The Shingwedzi Rest Camp is located in the northern part of Kruger National Park in the heart of Mopane country. A beautiful route towards the south-east following the road along the Shingwedzi river towards the Kanniedood dam is one of the most rewarding tours. Waterbuck, nyala, kudu and elephants are very often spotted in this area and also the bird life is exuberant and colorful. An overnight stay at Shindwezi camp is an experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life. It is a camp that still carries the essence of bush life and the absence of modern technology only contributes to that. Magical evenings in the circle of your accommodation and the glowing warm coals in your braai make the tongues come loose …

In this area you will mainly look for the giant Eagle owl, elephants, the African rock python, the spotted hyena and the much less dangerous, but very special green pigeon.
