A trip with an unprecedented variety of landscapes: from the evergreen fynbos to beautiful mountain landscapes and from mangrove forests to wide savannas full of large game.

A fascinating journey in which you can see zebras, impalas, elephants and giraffes walking among the shady acacias. Via the untouched pieces of paradise on the Wild Coast, a Kingdom and the overwhelming Garden Route with its beautiful lakes and vast coast, you will go to a world city. Here exceptional views, ancient history and Company gardens make the times of the V.O.C. revive. This is a journey full of contrasts!

You will receive a brief briefing about your tour on the day of departure. You must hand over your vouchers and be able to show your insurance certificate (travel insurance is mandatory during this tour). This is also the ideal time to ask your guide about the tour.

Day 1-2: Panorama Route – Greater Krugerpark (1x B, 2x L, 2x D)
Around 06:30 in the morning you will depart from Johannesburg to the Panorama Route in the province of Mpumalanga. Today quite a ride ahead, but on the way you will regularly stop to stretch your legs and eat and drink. You stop in the (late) afternoon at two beautiful vantage points along the Panorama Route: God’s Window and Three Rondavels. Overnight just outside the Kruger Park (travel time day 1: 8 hours, 620 km).

On day two you need to get up early, because you are going into the Kruger Park in search of wild animals. For many, of course, spotting the Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and lion) is on the wish list, but also enjoys the beautiful birds, special trees and various smaller animals. At the end of the afternoon you return to the lodge where you can take a dip in the pool and enjoy the sunset before dinner is served.

Day 3: Kruger National Park (B, L, D)
Today you start with a walk through the African bush where you can also spot animals. Then you enter the Kruger Park again for a game drive. You drive at a leisurely pace in a southerly direction and will stop en route to observe animals whenever possible. Tonight you will spend the night in a Rest Camp in the Kruger Park. Optionally you can make an evening game drive with a SANparks ranger. Hereby you see a totally different world! Many animals are only active when it gets dark and you will probably spot animals that you do not see during the day. Travel time: 2 hours, 150 km + game drives.

Day 4: Kingdom  Eswatini (B, L, D)
On the way to the southern gate you make a final game drive through the park. During this two-hour drive from the camp to the exit, you can of course still spot wildlife. Then have your passport ready, because today you will visit the kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland). You spend the night in the Malalotja Nature Reserve and take a walk through the beautiful nature. The mountainous environment provides a beautiful view. In the evening at the lodge you can relax around the campfire during dinner. Travel time: 4 hours, excluding the game drive from the camp to the gate of the Kruger Park, 200 km.

Day 5 – 6: Zululand Game Reserve (2x B, 2x L, 2x D)

Today you will return to South Africa and drive towards Zululand, part of the Kwazulu Natal province. Along the way you will visit a traditional market in eSwatini near Mbabane. Here you can take a look at the many handmade products and there is also a Sangoma (traditional healer). Today you will spend the night at a private game reserve where you will walk with a guide and learn more about the birds and animals that live here (including nyalas, hippos and leopards). Day six includes a morning game drive in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. This reserve became particularly known for its efforts to protect the endangered rhino. In the afternoon of day six you visit a Zulu village. Travel time day 5: 6 hours, 300 km.

Day 7 – 8: Drakensberg (2xB, 2xL, 2xD)
Experience the grandeur of the Drakenberg. The locals call this mountain range Ukhahlamba which means “Barrier of Spears”. You spend the night at the foot of the mountain and there is plenty of time in the coming days to walk, view petroglyphs, swim in the crystal clear streams and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Travel time day 7: 7 hours, 500 km.

Day 9 – 10: Wild Coast (2x B, 2x L, 2x D)

Today a long drive ahead of a completely different part of South Africa. On the way to the Wild Coast you will visit Qunu. In this village, where Nelson Mandela grew up, you can also find his grave. The local museum can be visited here to learn more about the life of this special man (museum closed due to renovation until April). The Wild Coast is a relatively untouched piece of paradise in South Africa. There are long pristine beaches, open plains and forests. The next day is free, just relax after a long day of travel! You can explore the area on foot or relax on the beach. Optionally you can fish on the ocean, walk through the village or visit the beach. Travel time day 9: 8.5 hours, 600 km.

Day 11: Addo Elephant National Park (B, D)
Wake up early so that you can start looking for wild animals again this afternoon. The Addo Elephant park was established in 1931 to save the last 11 wild elephants from extinction. Today there are around 600 elephants in the park. The park is also a home for black rhinos, buffalo, lions, leopards and many other small mammals and birds. You make an (after) afternoon and morning game drives in the park. Optional activity is a night game drive in an open 4×4 with a park ranger. Travel time: 7.5 hours, 500 km.

Day 12 – 13: Knysna / Tsitsikamma (2xB, 1xL)

The next two days you will stay in a lodge resort located on the lagoon in Knysna. A day trip is planned to the mouth of the Storms River where you can walk to the gorge and along the rocky coast to take some beautiful pictures. The Tsitsikamma National Park has a spectacular coastline and beautiful landscapes. You can enjoy fresh fish in one of the restaurants in Knysna (not included). Travel time day 12: 4.5 hours, 300 km.

Day 14: Hermanus (B, L)

From the coast at Hermanus you can see whales in the season, from June to November. When you travel during this period, you will take a walk along the coast to (hopefully) see these giants. When traveling in the African summer months, a visit is made to the Fernkloof nature reserve to see the fynbos that bloom. In the evening you can enjoy a relaxed dinner at a restaurant in Hermanus (for your own account). Travel time: 6 hours, 420 km.

Day 15 – 16: Cape Town (2x B)

Cape Town is one of the most impressive cities in the world with Table Mountain as the central point in the city and the ocean on the other side. On the way to Cape Town you will visit the historic city of Stellenbosch, located in the famous Cape Winelands. You stop here for a wine tasting (for your own account) and a tour through the wine cellar. The “Mothercity”, as Cape Town is called, has various attractions and you will visit the following: Cape Point, the harbor of Hout Bay, beautiful beaches and the V&A waterfront. A visit to Robben Island, a possible dive with the sharks or other optional activities are not included. Your breakfast at the guest house, lunches and dinners are for your own account. Your accommodation is located near the famous V&A Waterfront where you can find many shops, terraces and restaurants. Travel time day 15: 2 hours, 150 km. travel time day 16: 150 km for a trip over the Cape Peninsula to Cape Point.

Day 17: Cape Town  (B)
In the morning, head up Table Mountain to enjoy spectacular views of Cape Town. Then in the afternoon you still have time to do some final shopping and look for nice souvenirs. Around 6 p.m. you say goodbye to your travel party and the tour ends at the guest house. You return to the Netherlands or you extend your trip for a few more days. Ask us about the possibilities.
